stay classy

So many times, I have been attracted to the giant flashing sale signs only to be swept away on a tide of discounts and prospective savings.
I can confidently say that nearly all of those impulse buys have gone unused, collecting dust somewhere in the abyss of my closet.
Especially for high end designers, a piece that bears their name and a slashed price is enticing, I'll be the first to admit that.
Lately, I've learned the value of judging the piece based on the current pricing, not by the percentage it has gone down and found that the classic pieces really are the best value.
Sure, there are times where some of the seasonal pieces will fit in better with my wardrobe, and I can hope that they will be discounted.
In the end, however, I have gotten the most use out of the two extremes: ultra bargains and classics.

Alexander McQueen - skull chiffon scarf
Balenciaga - giant first bag
Chanel - quilted classic flap bag in lambskin
Chloe - heloise hobo
Commes des Garcons - play heart tee
Ferragamo - varina patent flat
Fendi - forever boston bag
Gucci - vintage speedy
Louboutin - simple 100 patent pumps
MBMJ - i ♥ miss marc tee
Mulberry
- bayswater satchel

Rebecca Minkoff - MAC clutch & MAB mini

seattle street food

original burger & seasoned fries, peach ginger fresca

skillet: mobile diner
possibly some of the best food I've ever tasted at an amazing price point.
They deliver 5-star restuarant food for a fraction of the cost. How? By operating out of a mobile cart - no joke.
Every day, the cart parks in a different part of seattle (or neighboring cities), but no matter where it goes, the lines are always ridiculously long.
It's well worth the wait, though. All the ingredients are freshly prepared and the patties of the burgers are endearingly misshapen. If I could, I would eat at skillet every day of the week :)

remnants of summer

h&m sweater, mcqueen scarf, louboutin pumps, giant toast ♥

a new piece to add to my collection :)

Although, there WAS a giant cinnamon bun there as well.. :D
I wonder if sometimes it's too childish to buy things like this, but then again, things like this remind me of how simple life can be.

new acquisitions :)

AMAZING deal on this see by chloe 'daytripper' shoulder bag
I had to think about the color twice, though
my closet needs more than just black :/
I'm loving the textured leather and multicolored zippers
I wish they would come out with a keychain like that zipper pull

I finally bought the Ted Baker clutch I'd been coveting.
I seriously need it for work (was my excuse) :)

on a side note, I've been swamped with things to do,
even though classes are now over.
maybe it's in my nature to jampack my schedule full?

hooray for 150 posts :D

I'm usually a HUGE Marc by Marc Jacobs fan, but after a while, I realized how commercial he's starting to get, especially with his handbags. I still love them, but only a couple pieces - the rest are becoming kind of monotonous, feeding the people's cravings. A bit like how Coach has become. I'm always a little disappointed to see that happen to great designers, who have such creativity, but seem to bank it so the more practical designs keep rolling out simply because they sell. Just a thought :)

the preparations of a wedding: the flower girl basket

step 1
: gather the materials

step 2: cover the basket

step 3: add the ribbon

step 4
: finish with a couple bows to hide the imperfections

and it's all done :)

too bad all sewing machines have personal vendettas against me -- ergo i sew by hand = 1,000+ hours of manpower to finish one basket -.-"
i'm sure i'll eventually learn

T-21 days ♥
